The Common Pickup concept

COMMON MOTOR WORKS / STUDY 001

The Common Pickup

CLASSIC CHARACTER. A USEFUL NEXT CHAPTER.

GENERATED DESIGN EXPLORATION

THE STARTING POINT

Keep what
makes it matter.

A truck earns its place carrying supplies, visiting family, and getting projects moving. Those ordinary days are the starting point for this study.

Keep the look people love. Choose an engine, transmission, and running gear that work well together. Make the cabin comfortable and the controls easy to use. Each change should help the owner.

A LITTLE CHARACTER, YOUR WAY

Quiet colors.
Good proportions.

An illustrative palette exploration. These are color sketches, not available paint options or an engineering drawing.

Workshop Green

01 / CHARACTER

A familiar silhouette.

Restrained proportions, sensible wheels, and original visual character guide the exterior direction.

02 / MECHANICALS

A coherent package.

Body-on-frame construction and proven gasoline powertrains are preferences to evaluate against the chosen donor and legal pathway.

03 / OWNERSHIP

A vehicle you can know.

Service access, documentation, diagnostics, and replacement parts belong in the design brief.

A FEW STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Where things stand.

Can I buy or reserve one?

No. These are exploratory concepts. There is no order book, production commitment, or delivery schedule.

What engine and transmission would it use?

We want to evaluate proven gasoline powertrains, including an LS-family V8 direction, and a suitable automatic or manual. No supplier, package, or specification has been selected. A second engine option would follow evidence that it can be supported consistently.

Would this use an original body or a new frame?

We are evaluating existing-vehicle rebuilds and platform-specific chassis systems. An old body does not automatically establish the legal identity of a newly assembled vehicle. The final approach must be assessed before being promised.

Will it be legal in every state?

That is a development requirement to investigate, not an established capability. Safety, emissions, vehicle classification, titling, and applicable state requirements must be addressed for the exact configuration.

A COMMON STARTING POINT

A machine to own.
A story to be part of.
